California Institute of the Arts, Valencia, California, 1978
"I taught at CalArts from 1977 to 1983. At some point in 1978, my painting class and I decided that the white walls of the cafeteria could use some new imagery. Approximately 12 students and I spent over 40 days completing the cafeteria murals. There was no pre-planning, nor were there any sketches made for the wall paintings. We just started to draw and paint, and slowly connect up our imagery together into one unified series of murals.
The last two images show a separate one-day class project, also from 1978."
